Graham is a member of the National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE) and has run writing workshops and classes in a variety of settings. In the past he has run adult residential courses at Knuston Hall, evening classes for Northamptonshire County Council and festival-based workshops for both Kettering and Royston Arts Festivals.

He has also taught Creative Writing to foreign language students in both Cambridge and at Eton College and led sessions for EFL teachers. His three books on writing for EFL students are published by Cambridge University Press, one of which was used to inform a study in the World Journal of English Language and also chosen by the English Language Gazette as its book of the month.

As part of Royston Arts Festival 2017, Graham ran a workshop on establishing settings in stories, blogs and poems. Using historic photos from Royston Museum’s storeroom, it provided an opportunity for participants to explore how time and place could be explored through their own writing.

Feedback from other workshops

“The atmosphere in the workshop was buzzing …” Laura Rawlings, Headteacher, Greneway Middle School

“Cracked Voices [a collaboration between Graham and composer Jenni Pinnock] has been a breath of fresh creative air for the students of Meridian. When the pressure of exams and pushing the students to conform to exam board guidelines are the normal for secondary education up and down the country, we have had here, the opportunity to allow a new insight, new stimuli, new approaches to dominate the students’ creative thinking. This group of young writers and composers have thrived and matured through insights from Graham and Jenni – looking at the way they approach storytelling, history, narratives and word-painting. Their projected outcomes are already inspirational.” Jenny Warburton, Head of Performing Arts, Meridian School
